TEACHING STYLE
The Tai Mantis Kungfu Association
is a traditional style school.
This means that:
- Most classes are semi-private. Students are taught
individually, and practice on their own. For advanced students,
there are group demonstrations and practices. Sifu Eng himself
teaches all classes. He does not give private lessons.
- There is a distinction between students and disciples.
Disciples are those students who have shown commitment to their
practice, loyalty to the school, respect for their teachers and
fellow students, and moral virtue. With this distinction comes
added responsibilities as well as the privilege to learn more
advanced techniques.
- The relationship between students and Sifu is more like a
family than a commercial enterprise. Students help each
other; share in the work of the school, and enjoy holiday celebrations
together, especially holidays of the Chinese lunar calendar.
All students are welcome, including families.
Children must be at least 8 years of age.
